New Paintings

Hello dear readers! I'm very excited about the experiment in color I've been working on. I love color blocking and color psychology. And I'm very inspired by Mark Rothko. My last batch of paintings were all about pink. This batch I am seguing into aqua and turquoise. I am working on a color experience, it's slow going without the funds. Thinking of starting a GoFundMe page.

New Painting

Sometimes I like to change the orientation of a painting.  All the art in my apartment is by me. Sometimes I worry that I am arrogant. One thing's for sure:  feels great to be painting again and I adore pink. Oops, I guess that's two, lol.  xo

New Paintings

I'm happy to announce that I started painting again!  Here's a couple of my new paintings.

This painting is deceptive. Simple, but not easy. It may look like a solid color, but the color is actually achieved in layers.  Inspired by Mark Rothko.

 Pink City II: Underwater, approx 8" x 10", acrylic and pencil on canvas. Was part of a larger canvas that I didn't like, so I chopped it up.

All the art in my apartment is by me. More importantly, it's all pink -- which makes me ecstatic.  

Lamp Tramp

Thank God for knock offs.  I realize this may rankle the feathers of purists - and I do apologize for that. I want artists and designers to make money and be credited for their work.  But I also want beauty to be available to the masses - so I was thrilled when I saw that Target has a knock off of one of my favorite lamps.

The Bourgie lamp designed by Ferruccio Laviani is one of my favorite lamps of all time!  I love a piece that looks traditional, made in a non-traditional material.

Here is the knock off by Target.  Not bad and a whole lot cheaper.  I'd love to use this in a hot pink room for a teenage girl.

I just couldn't help myself. I had to do a mood board with the lamp. At Target's price, you could afford two of the lamps for less than you can get it from Kartell.  The lamps look fabulous with this gorgeous yellow sofa and acrylic coffee table. I Love .... Acrylic!

I feel like my apartment is done, I like it simple and sparse.  But... I'd love to have an acrylic piece!  I adore how well they fit in a small place, as they take up no visual weight.  I especially love them on white floors, so airy they appear to float.  Here's some lovely acrylic pieces.

I love the idea of putting a table runner on this acrylic coffee table to add a dash of color.  House to Home.

Ghost chairs and an acrylic coffee table!  Be still my heart.  That hanging lamp is pretty amazing too.  Lamps Plus.

This is one of the most fascinating dining rooms I've seen.  I hope you will humor me, I simply must dissect it.    The acrylic chairs are the perfect foil to the heavy wooden table.  A perfect combination of hard and soft.  Look at that gorgeous white console!  I wonder if this is a custom piece, I'd love to have it in my entry way.  Of course, I'd pile pottery on it.  Its severe geometry is complemented by that totally fab lantern.  Perfect gray walls.  A very discerning eye created this room.  Daymon's Open Plan with an Open View Rental via Apartment Therapy.

I love a traditional chair reinterpreted in a non-traditional material.  Typically, I find a wing back chair too heavy and stuffy.  Not so when it's made of acrylic!  I love the airiness of this room.  And check that hanging light.  Too fab.  Lex & Lynn's Not Boxed In via Apartment Therapy.
