Silver and Gray

I love silver and gray and am considering how I may pair it with pink. Here are a couple of images I find inspirational.

I must say, I usually find Marimekko fabrics boring. They are just so common. But in gray and silver, this one is totally unexpected. I adore the industrial vibe of this picture.

I cannot stop looking at this bedding from West Elm. Total Hollywood glam. I would love to decorate a loft in silver and gray, with juxtapositions of industrial chic and glam. Of course, there would have to be lots of pink and white as well.

I'd like to experiment with making wall paper. I think my vintage Hindu lovers print would look great as wall paper behind a bed all done in silver bedding. Have you ever made wallpaper? I'd love to hear from you.

Dear readers, I just can't stop obsessing about pink. I am considering painting my apartment, and I adore pink used in a modern, edgy way. Here is some inspiration. Hope you enjoy!

I adore this pink spiral staircase. This picture proves that pink looks great in a modern, minimal room. I don't remember where I got this image. Probably Desire to Inspire.

You already know that I adore the designs of Jessie of My Mod Style. Have you seen her remodeled office? It is simply divine. What a gorgeous shade of pink, and those lamps are too fab. This is a place where I could write a best selling novel. I think this pink could be the cure for procrastination, as I would never want to come out of that room!

I think this painting is so cute. I am not sure the significance of the scribble, but I think it is fab paired with the hanging lamp. Image Desire to Inspire.

I adore pink Christmas trees! Image Making it Lovely. And speaking of Christmas, this hot pink suzani pillow from Acacia would make a great gift. This pillow would look great in a Bohemian-inspired living room.

Bored....

Dear readers, I am bored with my apartment. I know you know the feeling. Sometimes I'd like to start over. I'd like to move. I tire of living in an old building, I prefer clean and modern. Oh well, there's only one thing to do when you get bored with your decor.

That's right. You guessed it - rearrange.

More Thrifting

I just can't get enough! Here are some interesting things I saw at the Salvation Army in Cleveland.

Cute little sofa. Would be great juxtaposed with modern furniture in a loft. A great find at only $79.00!

Cute studio vase. Hmm. This one was tempting. But like I said below, I am not starting another collection. Collecting studio pieces could easily become a sickness! I love the blue vase. This one haunted me so much, I went back for it but it was gone! Oh well.

This one I bought. I've been wanting a white Buddha head. $7.99.

And I bought this new blue vase. I have a thing for blue bottles. This one reflects the light beautifully. It's Spanish and made of 100% recycled materials, and was only $3.99.

Thrifting in Toledo

My sister-in-law and I took a trip to Toledo recently. We spotted a wonderful second hand store. Here are a few of the interesting things I saw.

Is this a groovy chair or what? Man it would be easy to be a chair whore.

Saw this unusual vase. Have no idea of its origins. It's about eight inches in diameter and very lightweight. Spanish maybe? The owner had no clue either. Reminds me a little of Valdis Harrysdottir's fortune telling vase.

I adore this teapot. Wish I had bought it. And this studio piece is really cute. I am resisting the urge to buy studio pieces, I don't need any more collections!

Look at this gorgeous painting! I adore it. Wish I had painted it. Would go great in a modern loft.

Here is what I bought. The little white vase in the middle. It has a wonderful matte finish - I think it might have been spray painted. I'm not sure I like the shape, though. Too phallic maybe?

Blogging - Absolutely Beautiful Things

One of my favorite hangouts is the coffee shop at Borders. I sip a latte and peruse their fine selection of shelter magazines. I get so excited when I open a magazine and see a home that I recognize! Last month's Vogue Living Australia featured the lovely home of Anna Spiro. Anna's blog, Absolutely Beautiful Things is one of the first I discovered when I discovered the wonderful world of blogging almost three years ago. I've been following it ever since.

Anna's style is very different from mine. Her combinations of patterns are at times seemingly incongruent, but are always fascinating. Anna and I share a love of white walls and floors. And she says that she can't live without some hot pink in her living room. I adore the pink and red painting in her dining room. Hmm. Maybe we are not so different after all.

When I look at Anna's home I think about adding some patterned black and white pillows to my decor. Congratulations, Anna, on being featured in Vogue Living, and thanks for being an inspiration! xxoo

Yasha Butler

Dear readers, I know you share my obsession for contemporary potters, so here's a name to watch - Yasha Butler. I am in love with her current collection entitled "Off Circle."

Such perfect, simple elegance. Fits perfectly with my design aesthetic that everything should be functional as well as decorative. Couldn't you just see these sublime forms lining a shelf in a Zen tea room? These sensual pieces are made to be touched.
